The Maxwell School recently held alumni events in Bangalore and Delhi, plus traveled throughout India and met with 100 alumni from across the country. Through these visits, the School reconnected with alumni who attended Maxwell between 2004 and 2018, continuing decades-long relationships in India.
“What is clear from conversation with our alumni and fellow scholars is that public administration – as a field of practice and academic study – in nations around the world is in a time of revolutions, and that it is going to take a cadre of well-trained, committed people to help us deal with the challenges of the 21st century,” said Tina Nabatchi, Joseph A. Strasser Endowed Professor in Public Administration.
Nabatchi, whose research focuses on citizen participation, collaborative governance, conflict resolution, and challenges in public administration; and Dan Nelson, director of Executive Education’s India programs, discussed with alumni the importance of Maxwell’s international partnerships and the strength of the schools connections in India.
Nabatchi spoke on “Navigating Public Administration through a Time of Revolutions,” and Daniel Nelson shared current efforts Maxwell is undertaking to improve governance in India and around the world.
Maxwell has hosted thousands of Indian officials and students over the course of a relationship with India that dates to the 1950s, when former Dean Paul H. Appleby (1891-1963), worked with the Indian government on civil service reform. This historic partnership continues, with officials and students from India attending Maxwell and participating in Executive Education programs every year.
“We’re in India every year and regularly hold events on campus,” Nelson said. “We are fortunate to have vibrant and engaged alumni.”
Alumni in India who would like to receive notices of activities and events should update their contact information to receive specific updates from the School. Alumni are also invited to join Maxwell’s India LinkedIn Network and the India Facebook group to connect with other alumni.
